1956: Henry T. Yost, principal; Dr. Pierre Davis begins as City's first black teacher.

1957
: Alumni Hall of Fame begun.

1961: School goes on extended day.

1963: Julius G. Hubb, principal.

1964 Double shifts begin at City.

1966: Enrollment of 3,890 sets school record. Superintendent Dr. Charles Paquin authors plan to move City and end its status as a college preparatory school; Alumni, faculty and students organize to save City.

1967: Dr. Jerry Denaberg, principal; enroll­ment begins to decline at City.

1971: Dr. Pierre Davis, principal.

1974: Maurice Wells, principal.

1976: City made into zoned high school with enrollment dropping to 1,200; Dr. Frank Thomas, City teacher organizes "Save City" Night, May 18; Baltimore makes plan to Revitalize school; September, City moves To Old Poly to make room for renovations; Isaiah White, principal.
