1914: City College begins to use old Front Building of Johns Hopkins as an annex to relieve overcrowding. WorId War I Cadet Corps formed at City; 1167 serve in armed forces; 47 die in conflict.

1920: Strayer survey consolidates new approach to education at City.

1921: Assembly Hall converted into 12 classrooms as schools goes on three shifts to serve growing enrollment.

1922: New curriculum introduced that will remain unchanged until late 1960's.

1923: "City Forever", written by Eugene W. Milby '23, sung for the first time at the City-­Poly game.

1924: Annex opened for Sophomores at Homewood and 22nd Sts.

1926: "A" course organized; cornerstone laid November 24th for new building; Dr. Frank R. Blake, principal.

1928: City enters "Castle on the Hill", April 10th.

1929: Collegian newspaper begun.

1932: Dr. Phillip H. Edwards, principal; Parent­Teacher Association formed; Quill and Scroll Honor Society formed.

1934: Harry Lawerence appointed football coach and City begins string of championship years.
